- The Flea, by Dimitris Spyrou, duration 95’, (in greek, English subtitles)
The Flea by Dimitris Spyrou is a genial film, because the director’s treatment of a real story of ‘heroism’, which he reconstructs, is equally genial and sweet. It is set in 1965, in a mountainous village of the Olympia area, where a twelve-year old pupil edits and publishes all by himself a hand-written newspaper. In the course of the film, the young, aspiring publisher of that remote village, thanks to his persistence, patience, and perseverance and the childish innocence of his conduct, manages to open a window into the world, keep his hope alive, and fight back the conservative microcosm of his community.
